As we all knew that Radiohead, Foo Fighters And Ed Sheeran would be topping the bill on their respective nights – but the announcement reveals a whole load of names, makes this years event super exciting.
As 2018 is a fallow year for the festival, Eavis added that they planned a bumper line-up in 2017 to “cram in” two years worth of music. Here’s the full Glastonbury line up to date and a couple rumours still floating around.
2017 Glastonbury festival Headliners:
Radiohead – Confirmed
Oct 20, Radiohead became the first confirmed headline act for Glastonbury Festival 2017. They will top the bill on the Pyramid Stage on Friday, June 23rd.
It’s been almost 20 years since their legendary 1997 Pyramid Stage outing, and what better way to mark the anniversary with another iconic performance in 2017? Festival organizers used the BBC’s Glastonbury Webcam to announce the first headline act of Radiohead – by slowly revealing a replica of the bands logo beside the half-constructed Pyramid Stage at the site in Somerset.
Foo Fighters – Confirmed
Feb 24 Foo Fighters confirmed as the second headliners of Glastonbury 2017. The band announced the news at a secret gig in Frome, Somerset, on Friday evening.
The US rock band will be performing on Saturday night of Glastonbury this year on Pyramid Stage. The rock group were scheduled to perform at the festival in 2015, but were forced to axe a summer of live commitments when their frontman, Dave Grohl, broke his leg during a concert.
Ed Sheeran will join the Glastonbury Festival Headliners, topping the bill on Pyramid Stage on June 25, Sunday Night this year.
Sheeran – who last played the festival in 2014, confirmed his presence by sharing a video to social media featuring a load of cows, captioned with “Can’t wait @glastofest”.
By now most of the big names are out for festival’s lineup. But in her interview, Emily Eavis revealed that they still have a few surprises up their sleeves for the lineup. Could it be some of these?
She’s stepping in for Beyonce at Coachella, so is seemingly well up for playing some festivals this summer. It’s been reported that Gaga has also been ‘approached’ to play but unconfirmed where on the line up she’d appear.
The divisive popstar is back with new album ‘Heavy Entertainment Show‘ and next year he’ll be hitting the road for a gigantic UK and European stadium tour. His upcoming tour will finish in the UK on the Friday of Glastonbury, leaving him free Saturday and Sunday night to play.
They’re bringing their formidable ‘3-D’ live show to the UK for a full tour to blow some minds. Their current UK tour dates are scheduled to finish just days before the festival. Sounds a bit suspicious, doesn’t it?
The group have long been at each other’s throats, but brothers Ray and David Davies appear to have patched things up and are ready to perform live again. Come on, ‘Sunny Afternoon’ was basically written for the Legends slot, wasn’t it?
Speaking to the press, Ray recently said “David and I will definitely work together again. And we want to play live.” He then put out the call to the Eavis’, by saying “maybe The Kinks could play Glastonbury.”
Pop music has become quite the flavor of the Pyramid Stage in the last few years, with Adele and Beyonce both providing killer headline sets in their respective years. Little Mix may not be at that level yet, but their new album ‘Glory Days’ is full of bangers so an afternoon slot would be perfect for them.
In a recent interview the girls said that they would ‘love’ to play and would try to prove the haters wrong.
So this all we have about rumors and Glastonbury festival headliners. Stay tuned for more updates.
